Crunch

This is what happens when you're traveling 40 mph on a State Highway & someone backs out of their driveway right in to you.

Thankfully, I wasn't hurt.  & surprisingly enough, the airbags did not deploy.  The worst part?  I had just filled up the tank.  $60 down the drain.

1,000 Miles

Oh crap!  I completely forgot that one of my resolutions for 2011 was to try to log in 1,000 running miles.  Still an attainable goal, but I didn't keep track at all in January!  So that means I have to log in 1,000 in the next 10 1/2 months.  I guess I can do that.  It's 100 miles a month.  Great.  So far for February I'm up to about 21.  I'm screwed.

In other news.  I realized that I have received a few comments on my blog in the past few days.  One, I hope, is from my new cupcake friends.  Or I should say cupcake friend Chris, as I do not know his partner Jesse - or Wilson, as I like to call him.  Remember Wilson?  They guy from Home Improvements?  You only saw 1/2 of his face?  Well every time I go in for my cupcake (vanilla, vanilla, vanilla) I only see Chris & hear Jesse - he's behind the curtain.  & you know what?  I think that's kinda cool.  No need to meet Wilson - it makes my whole cupcake experience that much more mysterious!

But there are some comments, that are hard to discern.  The ones that I get that are clearly spam (Viagra, ones written in Chinese - yes seriously, & other junk email type ones) then the ones that you don't wish to get.  You see, I opened a can of worms when I started this blog a few years ago.  I guess I always knew that anyone could come along & read all about what a crappy athlete I am, I mean hey - that's why I started it in the first place, but there are people in my life or I should say WERE people in my past - that should stay there.  It's not that simple though, when you put yourself out there.  So for now, if you're going to leave a comment, I'm sorry, but you're going to have to log in.  & I can't stop people from reading all about me, but I can remind them that choices you made are choices you have to live with, as I have moved on - far far on & no longer wish to revisit the past.  Only looking forward.

Valentine's Day

Did I mention my pet peeve is when people refer to Valentine's Day as Valetime's Day?  Seriously, how stupid are people?  I suppose they are the same people that say lie-berry as opposed to library.  OK, so I know that I am not a Rhodes Scholar, but I'd like to think of myself as fairly educated!  Thankfully, I have not heard it referred to this year as such.  My Valentine's Day will consist of exercise, exercise, exercise & some drilling of my teeth.  What a better reminder that I should cut out the sweets, right?  A root canal on Valentine's Day.

Tomorrow I will send Louie off to doggy day care where the doggies will indulge in Valentine's Day dog funnery, whatever that means.  His posting on facebook - under Purr N Pooch's webpage is in second place.  We are hoping that he wins a free bath!  If you're reading this prior to 12 noon on February 15th, please vote for his picture.  Even though he hates baths, or baffs as we like to call them, he could always use a free one.  I think they are also getting free red bandannas tomorrow too.  Lucky dogs.  What a life Louie has as Mayor of Doggytown.

In more Alcatraz related news, I went back to spin class today.  They opened a new studio - Hammer House - in Red Bank.  They have another location, in Colts Neck, but this one is much closer to home.  But, like hot yoga, it will get thrown into the mix here & there, as I already go to a gym that I spend too much money on anyway.  Ha ha.

Tomorrow I believe I am back in the pool.  Great.  Did I mention my horrible ear infection?  No?  Well the other night, on my first day back in the pool, I forgot my earplug.  Yes, I said earplug, not nose plug, which would make me more of a dork than I already am!  I get in the pool & swoosh, water goes right in my right ear.  I have no idea why this has been happening, but for the past two years, once water gets into my right ear, there's no getting it out & poof, instant ear infection.  I went home & tried all my remedies & prescription drops & still I have an ear infection.  The doctor prescribed Cipro the other day & I am very glad because it definitely worked.  I am also available now to open any & all anthrax laced letters for the State Department, well at least for the next 5 or 6 days.  Note to self, pack ear plugs in purse.  Hey, I already carry a plethora of crazy shit in my purse, what's the big deal with some ear plugs?

So people, if you're still reading this I hope everyone has a lovely TIME on VALENTINE'S DAY tomorrow & I hope to be able to get over & get a tasty cupcake to reward myself for a great workout.  Oh wait, that's probably not tooth friendly.  Who cares? Have to celebrate!

Back in the Pool

1250 meters.  That's 0.77 miles.  What happened to the other 0.23 miles?  Ugh.  I am the worst at math & I work with numbers all day.  I think that 0.23 miles is about 15 more laps.  I'll have to make that up next time in the pool, which I think is Monday.

My training plan starts on Valentine's Day.  Hmmmm.  That's kinda sucky, but I suppose since I have nothing else planned on Valentine's Day, seems like a good a day as any.  Honestly though, it is the official day that the Alcatraz training plan starts.  I wonder if that was a coincidence or not?  Probably.

So instead of indulging in sweets & flowers I'll be at the gym, then the dentist, getting a root canal.  Fun fun.  If you have any extra Valentine's Day gifts lying around...feel free to send them my way.

Sugarush

Training for Alcatraz starts in 1 week.  Scary!  Considering I haven't been swimming lately, I should probably be a bit afraid!  But I am confident in my new training plan & as long as I stick to it, I should be fine come June.  Fingers crossed!

The funny part of the plan is that it begins on Valentine's Day, which normally would be a conflict, but not this year!  Ha ha.  I think.  So I will be at the gym dutifully next Monday night, training plan in hand, or at least memorized for the big kickoff.  I think I will have to reward myself with a cupcake from my new favorite store in town Sugarush.  They make cupcakes!  I know, I know, this isn't part of the training plan or diet, but they are so tasty.  I think I have already bought 50 since they opened a few weeks ago, but hey!  People have been having birthdays & parties, so what's a better gift than a cupcake?  Yes, I knew you would agree.

I'm a little anxious to get my hands on this training plan, as I am unsure of how hard it will be.  I have also been toying with the idea of renting a bike for Alcatraz, as opposed to hauling my bike 3,000 miles across country.  It's cheaper & sadly, the bike is a lot nicer than my bike.  Oh well, what can you do?  I'll keep everyone up to date on my training, as well as what my favorite cupcake flavors are, as of now, I have to say I am a huge fan of the vanilla, vanilla, vanilla combo - yes, that's right - 3 vanillas! Which means - they are stuffed with icing!  Yummy!!!  Can you see a few extra 100 miles on the treadmill.....

Check out their link - they really have great cupcakes & if you go...make sure you tell them I sent you!
