Born to Run

Pun intended for the few who will get it.

Yesterday was a great day for a run.  The rain held off & we couldn't have asked for better weather.  Take a look at Team Pink Cadillac.  What a great bunch!  Thanks to all the girls for a great race day!

Runapalooza T Minus 1 Day

OK, so not ready for this race.  & for some reason the distance of each leg of the relay seems longer than last year.  How is that possible?  Hopefully I can make this 6 miles.  I am so exhausted today & all I keep telling myself is that I can sleep on Sunday.  It's Friday, barely past lunch.  & from what I see on the radar, they are predicting rain.  I hate to run in the rain.

Hmm....not good.  But my reward for tomorrow will be dinner in NYC with friends, and a little volunteering.  Remember, that's my New Years Resolution for 2012.  Being more charitable!  & apparently, more tired.  Oh well, I can sleep on Sunday & when I'm dead.  Hee hee.

Happy weekend everyone!

NYC

I think I may have picked the best day to have off yesterday.  85 degrees in the city.  So nice!  I spent a few hours in the morning at the WTC, it was Jerry's birthday & I wanted to volunteer.  For years I have been looking for a way to keep his memory alive & when the opportunity came along to volunteer, I took it.  I know some may not understand why I do it, or wonder why I do it at all, but it makes me feel as if I am giving something back for all the sacrifice he made that day.

It's interesting to see all the people come & go from the site.  Some people are apprehensive, some are just tourists, some seem to be checking this item off the "to do list of things to see in NY," then there are others that go there for personal reasons.  I don't blame anyone for the reason they go.  I think everyone should go & learn as much as they can about the site & what happened that day.

I took some pictures while I was there.  The nice thing is that they let me go out on the plaza before the gates opened & I had a few moments alone out there.  What an amazing experience.  To be alone in lower Manhattan at the WTC site.  I can't even explain to you how that made me feel.  I did feel a bit guilty, as I knew that I was being allowed "special treatment" since I worked there & someone I cared about was the one that was killed.  But, selfishly, I took that opportunity, but made sure to send all my pics to Jerry's niece, for her to share with his family.  Hopefully one day she will come to NYC & she can go out there first thing in the am without the crowds too.  As family members are allowed access to the site without prior reservations.

So here are the pictures.  I am not the best flower arranger, but I wanted to leave something to celebrate his birthday.  I see flowers out on the plaza all the time, perhaps I should pay better attention to how they are placed, as mine were done while hundreds were watching & it made me nervous.  But who cares about that!  Happy birthday babe!

So peaceful.

His name & Battalion 6.

Flowers, I need to learn better arrangement skills.

Pic of 1 WTC.  Soon to be the tallest building in NYC.
Happy Patriot's Day!

Runapalooza!

This year team Pink Cadillac is back!  With some new teammates!  I am hoping that I am ready for this relay marathon, but I am not sure.  I haven't been training as much as in previous years & 6.2 miles seems daunting for some reason this year.  I'm hoping to get in a few more runs before this event next week, so wish me luck!

After this race, it's on to the Spring Lake Five & the kickoff to summer.  I can hardly wait!  It was 80 degrees (perhaps warmer) here in the Garden State today & it's supposed to be even warmer tomorrow.  Hopefully I will be able to get in a run along the Hudson, as I will be in NYC at some point tomorrow.  If I remember, I will bring my phone & take some pics along the way!

Many Thanks!

Hey, everyone!  Stopping by today to write a quick post about the awesome time I had last night.  Many thanks to my good friend who treated us to a really fun night.  In case you were wondering where we were, or what we did, here's a bit of a hint for you!

I'm psyched he played Thunder Road & I have a new respect for my Monmouth County neighbor!  Have a great day everyone.  I'm a bit hard of hearing now.  :)

208 Days!

I'm actually looking forward to turning 40 this year.  Yes, 40!  I can hardly believe it myself.  I mean, does this person below look 40?  Well, no!  Because she's not, yet.  YET!  (& I mean me, not Lucy!)

So what do you do for a big milestone birthday?  You plan a big trip.  Because you know my motto, go big or go home!  Look out Four Seasons, here we come!  I mean, who doesn't love an infinity pool?  Or three!  :)

Can't wait!  It almost makes turning 40 worth it!  Almost.
