Saturday workouts
Wow 64 degrees. Is it ever going to get any warmer? It's not that I don't appreciate a beautiful spring morning, but can we break the 70 degree mark? That's the bad part of April, always teasing you with nice weather, then retreating with brisk early morning and late afternoon temperatures.
I'd like to get a few things done today, and hopefully get a really good run in, but now I am thinking taking the bike out as well. More difficult decisions. Either way, I will wait until later as I have to get some work completed.
I see that one of my triathlon friends is going out for a 50 mile bike today & a 10 mile sprint. Hahahahaha. 10 mile sprint, oxymoron. That's great. But he is an Ironman & I am a lowly beginner so I'd settle for a 10 mile bike ride & 2 mile run. Have a great workout day Carsten! I'll be thinking of you later as I sip some Miller Lites. :)

Broad Street 10 Mile Race Philadelphia
Wow, the race is almost here & that means that April is almost over. Crazy! A third of the year gone. Where does the time go? Next week Lisa & I are going to be running the Broad Street 10 with about 30,000 other runners. We got our bib numbers today - I am 12010 - look for me! Ha ha, yes look for me in a sea of other runners. We are in the green corral - which means we start way after a lot of other runners! But my goal, as always, is to finish. The longest run I have made it is 7.22 miles. I am hoping that the weather will be nice & it will be a good race day. This is going to be my first hurdle towards running 13.1 miles in New Hampshire in August.
& speaking of New Hampshire, I got an email today about the Timberman festival. Woo hoo! That means that the planning has begun. I bought dinner tickets for Friday night, I heard that they sell out early, so I am going to stuff myself silly with pasta even though that's a big no no for me gastrointestinal wise, but wtf, it will be a fun time! It's only 121 days to go - 4 months!!! Hard to believe.
Best wishes going out to my friend Doug, who got be participating in the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in a few weeks. That's awesome!!!!!!!

Eight pounds down
I think the past few weeks have been really bad workout wise. Yesterday I vowed to get back into the swing of things. It was really chilly in the morning so I decided to go to the gym instead of run in Spring Lake, too chilly! I know, I should be outside, even if it is only 39 degrees, but I opted for the gym instead.
I got in an hour & fifteen minutes & I felt pretty good about myself. I would like to get outside today, but again it is just too cold out for me. I may get to run & swim tonight if I can get my act together!
The good news is that I weighed myself on Saturday, which is not something I normally do. But I was feeling pretty good about getting on the scale & was surprised to see that I had dropped about 8 pounds. The smart thing is to keep up the good work! I have been trying to eat a lot more vegetables & even made a trip to Sickles http://sicklesmarket.com/ with my mom on Saturday to make sure I loaded up on some goodies! I was proud of myself for not going overboard & buying any crap.
We shall see what this week brings. I'd like to get in at least 15 miles of running & 1-2 miles of swimming. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Sunny Saturday!
Tomorrow looks like a great day to get out and run. Or an even better day to bike to a run. It's time to kick the training into gear, no excuses now that it is Spring! I really liked my new run route at Pier Village in Long Branch (see my link from Monday below) & maybe if I get motivated I can ride over there & and go for another run.
I got some great motivating advice from a friend about his workouts. I guess it's not always how much you do or sticking exactly to your schedule, but it's about enjoying it & making it a part of your every day life. I think that I need to keep that in mind.
Since I haven't been that great about training lately, I don't really have any new stories, so I'm going to make a promise to myself to have better things to write about next week! Have to get back to basics! Have a great Spring weekend everyone!

Happy Easter
Ya know, ya think you're off to a good start & then Easter candy sneaks up on you! I haven't been to the gym since Wednesday & now it is Saturday. What a waste & I knew that Lisa would lure me to Pennsylvania under the guise that we would be running at some point this weekend. Yes, the only thing we ran for is candy & shopping.
I am going to try really hard while everyone is out at church tomorrow (sorry Jesus) to go for at least a 3 mile run, but I forgot my Garmin, so let me try to get in 40 minutes of running. I have to start off next week with a better plan & get back to working out. 2 weeks of goofing off is not good!
& to make it worse I got an email from my friend Christie today telling me that she got in a 17 mile bike ride & a 10 minute run after. What was I doing? Sitting on a bench with Lisa's daughters eating Milkduds. Bad! Happy Easter!
