Seriously slacking

OK so I was all gung ho about working out so I'd be ready for Timberman.  The best part was that I knew that I'd have my 20th high school reunion a month before the race, so I wouldn't have to worry that much about how I would look, because I would be training.  Training is going....well, to be honest, it's not going so well.

I am still going to the gym or working out at least 4 times a week.  At worst, it's about 3 - but I'm trying to put in as much as possible.  I've been doing a lot of yoga to try to recover from long runs.  It helps, but I can't do a long workout & go to yoga in the same day.  However, I am toning up, but I don't think that's going to help me in the long haul.

I signed up for a mile swim on Sunday.  Hopefully the ocean will be cooperative & not rough.  I don't think I'm going to wear a wetsuit, the ocean temp should be in the high 70s by now, considering it has been about 90 degrees for an entire month.

I'm hoping to swim tomorrow & get a good run in on Thursday night.  It's been too hot to run outside, I think 105 is a bit much.  Saturday was probably the hottest day of the year (maybe even of my life so far!) & it wasn't possible to do anything outside.  It was still 90 degrees at 1 am.  Yeah, that's a bit much.

So with 26 days to go I have to ask myself if I am ready.  Right now I would say no.  But I'm not going to quit & I am just going to have to push a little harder these next 2 weeks before I start to relax before the big race.  I'm going to take my bike to get tuned up & just hope for the best at this point.  Wish me luck!

More Yoga

OK so I went out & bought a yoga mat, which I have to say needs to be thoroughly washed.  I have to find some mat cleaner or spray.  I think I can google that, right?  Even though I said a few weeks ago that I find yoga a little on the boring side, it is a very good workout.  At least I feel like I've had a good workout when I am finished.

I tried Jersey Shore Hot Yoga the other day.  It's in Avon, on Main Street.  I liked it too.  A little different from Synergy in Fair Haven, but they were closed for a few days, so I tried the studio in Avon.  I think it's a little hotter in Avon.  I was drenched when I walked out of there yesterday.

I'm still not very bendy, but there are some postures that I think I'm pretty good at & then of course there are ones that I don't think I'll ever be able to do.  I do have to run some more & get a little more cardio in.  I believe a bike ride is in order on Sunday morning.  We went for a 15 mile ride the other day, but it was soooo hot, I couldn't wait to get home.

In two weeks I'm going to sign up for a mile ocean swim in Monmouth Beach.  Lets hope for some calm waters & no sharks!  I've seen two reports of shark sightings in Ocean County this week.  Stay there!

Long Weekend

Wow, a 4 day weekend goes by quickly!  Didn't get a lot of exercising in, but I did weigh myself after eating like a big pig at Saturday's fireworks party.  The number wasn't bad at all!  I was actually pretty pleased.

This morning I did make it out with Sue & Karen for a bike ride.  15 miles down to the beach & back.  It was hot hot hot!  I think it was 90 degrees when we got back around 10:30.  That's pretty hot.  Tomorrow I'm going to go back to yoga & then running & swimming will round out the week.

I have to plan for one triathlon this summer.  I know there are 2 coming up soon & I have to at least get one under my belt prior to August!  Wow, where has the year gone - already half over!
