OK so I was all gung ho about working out so I'd be ready for Timberman. The best part was that I knew that I'd have my 20th high school reunion a month before the race, so I wouldn't have to worry that much about how I would look, because I would be training. Training is going....well, to be honest, it's not going so well.
I am still going to the gym or working out at least 4 times a week. At worst, it's about 3 - but I'm trying to put in as much as possible. I've been doing a lot of yoga to try to recover from long runs. It helps, but I can't do a long workout & go to yoga in the same day. However, I am toning up, but I don't think that's going to help me in the long haul.
I signed up for a mile swim on Sunday. Hopefully the ocean will be cooperative & not rough. I don't think I'm going to wear a wetsuit, the ocean temp should be in the high 70s by now, considering it has been about 90 degrees for an entire month.
I'm hoping to swim tomorrow & get a good run in on Thursday night. It's been too hot to run outside, I think 105 is a bit much. Saturday was probably the hottest day of the year (maybe even of my life so far!) & it wasn't possible to do anything outside. It was still 90 degrees at 1 am. Yeah, that's a bit much.
So with 26 days to go I have to ask myself if I am ready. Right now I would say no. But I'm not going to quit & I am just going to have to push a little harder these next 2 weeks before I start to relax before the big race. I'm going to take my bike to get tuned up & just hope for the best at this point. Wish me luck!
