During the training, we sat in the Preview Site building. There are artifacts, information & photos of what happened that day. As I sat listening to the presentation I couldn't help but watch information scroll across a tv monitor behind one of the lecturers. A view of the interior of the Memorial Museum, which was supposed to open later this year, shows a smashed Ladder 3. I was really taken aback. I wasn't expecting to see the 3 truck until I went to the museum. I knew that they had selected it to be placed in the museum & I had seen part of the Discovery documentary where they lowered the apparatus into the museum, but to see the picture was really heartbreaking. Knowing my friend was on it, makes me sad, but proud. Here is a photo of it being lowered into the museum in July of 2011.
I know I have blogged about the WTC before, but I was so honored to be picked as a volunteer for the WTC Memorial Site. I hope that if you have the chance, you will come visit the site. Maybe you'll even see me there. Never Forget. 1810.
This may sound a little odd but I am going to say it nonetheless. I'm glad I found your blog. I am at a point in my life where I am trying to discern what God wants me to do. "How, Lord," I often pray, "can I serve you?"
ReplyDeleteWhen you write about your charity work, it inspires me. I guess what I am trying to say is thanks. Please keep writing.
