Not that I'm counting or anything! I took a look over the course route. Looks a little intimidating, but I am encouraged that there is a rest stop at every mile on the 13.1 run portion. Here's the breakdown:
1.2 mile swim in Lake Winnipesaukee. Friends tell me the lake is huge, almost ocean like. & it's fresh water and will be about 75 degress. Maybe I won't need a wetsuit. It has to be cleaner than the Navesink. Still, I will pack my earplugs.
56 mile bike course. Hilly. Have to get some practice in on hills. But I live at sea level, this presents a problem. & I have to get a CPSC approved helmet. What the hell is that? My crappy helmet is from Costco and it cost about $15. Something tells me it's not approved by anyone!
Run course: 13.1 miles, but there is an aid station at every mile & a band! That's good. Maybe they have chairs where I can rest up & listen to the music. Good to know I can stop at every mile for a snack & a drink too!
Gunstock TimberFEST - this seems to be the big party weekend. We booked our rooms at some Inn in Meredith, NH. I think it's close to the park. I'm so new to this, but from what I understand I can get a GPS chip so that my friends & family can track my progress, yeah, watch the slowest moving blip on the GPS, that's me! Anyway, it sounds like they have tons of things planned for the weekend starting Friday night. Will have to stop at the NH liquor store where wine & liquor has no tax! Load up before the long ride home too!
I wanted to post the map of the race, but I am not that savvy - so here's the link to the webpage if you want to check it out for yourself. http://www.timbermantri.com/timber703.html
